Insurances

Public Liability (Minimum of 20 Million)

Public Liability insurance is designed to provide protection for you and your business in the event a customer, supplier or a member of the public brings a claim against you due to them being injured or sustaining property damage as a result of your negligent business activities.

Small business owners have a legal responsibility to take reasonable steps for the safety of their customers, suppliers and the community and for their property.

Most Public Liability policies also extend to cover Product Liability. If you sell, supply or deliver goods, even in the form of repair or service, you may need cover for negligence claims against you where your product has caused injury, death or damage.

Professional Indemnity (Minimum of 10 Million)

Professional Indemnity insurance protects professionals against claims of negligence or breach of duty made by a client as a result of receiving professional advice or services from your business.

If someone alleges that you’ve made a mistake, overlooked a critical piece of information, misstated a fact or they have misinterpreted you in the course of your work, and this results in a financial loss for your client, then they may take legal action against you to recover these losses.

Whether or not the allegation is true, Professional Indemnity Insurance seeks to protect your assets, your reputation, and the contents of your back pocket should this occur. This means you can continue in your business without the stress of financial or reputational ruin should a claim arise.

Workers Compensation

This is only required if you are employing individuals to work alongside your business.

Workers Compensation Insurance is a compulsory form of insurance that employers are required to take out to protect their employees.  Workers Compensation Insurance is designed to cover an employee’s loss of wages, medical and rehabilitation expenses for work-related injuries or illnesses. Lump-sum benefits may also be available if an employee dies or is permanently impaired as a result of their work.

Each State and Territory regulates the cost of workers compensation insurance based on their own formulas, but generally, the cost of your Workers Compensation policy is calculated on:

  • Your business type;
  • Number of employees;
  • Classification of employees;
  • Wages paid to your employees; and
  • Claims history.
